Effective Home Organization Strategies

Every little bit helps, however when it comes to home organization, prioritizing the area that has the most significant negative impact on you by being disorganized is a great place to start.

It seems like it would be the obvious first step, but when a task seems daunting, we tend to put it off because it's easier to do what is easiest, first. Your kitchen pantry, for example, is functional; you can find what you need, and although it lacks rhyme or reason, it's not the bane of your existence. The hard stuff, however, like your bedroom closet or garage, is an excellent place to start, and if you manage it in little spurts, your drive to finish what you started increases.

In as little as 15 minutes a day, you can begin to make sense of that closet that prevents you from getting ready without a great deal of frustration. Every morning you're tasked with finding an outfit. That dark hole of a closet is so unorganized it's impossible to find what you want when you want it. Starting in an area that bothers you the most and consumes your time because you can't locate things is the ideal place to start.

How do you start the organizing process seems to stump people into perpetually putting off taking the initial step. Just getting started, though, even if it's only 15 minutes a day, will make you feel so much better. In this example, going through our items to discover if there is anything you can part with can help clear the clutter. Creating piles of things to donate and keep, can eventually help in taming the chaos.

The first step to any organization project is just getting started. Beginning wherever the unorganized mess impacts you negatively the most is the best place to start. Most projects can't be completed in one effort, so don't let the pressure of completing the task immediately prevent you from getting started.
